Congratulations, dear Lina!

We are delighted that our bachelor's student Lina Kamphus has successfully completed her bachelor's examination with Prof. Christina Feldmann.

Her bachelor's thesis focused on the topic:

‘Investigations and design recommendations for magnetic bearings in aspherical swivel bearing for a paediatric extracorporeal blood pump’.

Lina investigated the magnetic coupling of a paediatric blood pump with the aim of optimising the magnetic design of a bearing system. To this end, various design variants of magnetic components were first constructed and then manufactured using 3D printing. After the components had been professionally assembled, experimental investigations were carried out to systematically evaluate the magnetic properties of the respective variants.

The experimental part included magnetic force measurements to determine axial and radial forces as well as occurring moments. In addition, measurementsof the magnetic field strength were carried out with a teslameter to check the theoretical design parameters and compare them with the actual measured values.

Based on the measurement results, a particularly promising design variant was selected and further investigated in the hydraulics laboratory. There, invitro measurements were carried out under realistic operating conditions, which allowed the previously made theoretical assumptions and the magnetic design of the bearing to be experimentally verified.

Many thanks also to Dr. Paul Heinen for his very careful and professional supervision of your work.

Dear Lina, we congratulate you wholeheartedly on this great milestone. We look forward to continuing to accompany you on your journey as you complete yourmaster's degree. We wish you all the best for your professional future and continued success!
